This page explains how the current Nova workspace handles information. Before using a live school account, your school must provide its approved privacy notice, identify the organisations responsible for your information and give you a contact for questions or requests.
Using Nova on this device
The public website can be explored without a school account. School records require sign-in and a valid school membership. The pilot-brief form downloads a text file on your device and does not submit it.
Using a school workspace
In a configured school workspace, your account identifies your school and role. Learning settings, notes, progress and attendance are saved to the school’s configured database. Students access their own learning records. Teachers access educational records within their school. Organisation roles have additional permissions for private information, finances and administration.
Profiles, messages and session reports
Your display name, profile symbol and optional profile photo are visible to members of your school. Uploaded profile photos are cropped and stored in the school’s private image storage. School messaging records the message, sender, recipient, time and read status. Students can manage peer connections, block other students and report a message to their school team. Authorised staff can review reported messages.
Teachers can save session notes, share a report with the student and download a copy for a parent or guardian. Reports are not emailed automatically. Recognition points and character choices are saved to your school account; they are learning rewards with no cash value.
Questions and photo previews
The Nova assistant is not connected to a guidance service yet. Its workspace shortcuts work, but question drafts and question photos are not sent or analysed. Drafts remain in memory while you use the current workspace and are cleared on reload, sign-out or a change of account context. Uploading a profile photo is a separate action that saves the photo to your school account.
Sessions and devices
The app keeps your sign-in session in this tab’s session storage. Sign out when you finish, especially on a shared device. Session restoration behaviour depends on your browser, so closing a tab is not a substitute for signing out. Nova does not cache school records for offline use.
Activity records
Changes generate an audit record containing the account, action, table, record identifier and time. The audit does not copy the full changed record. Your school sets the retention and access arrangements for its data.
Video and external resources
The Nova film is served from this site and starts only when you choose to play it. Links to exam-board specifications open the board’s website, whose privacy notice applies there. Nova does not add advertising or analytics trackers.
Questions, corrections and deletion
Contact the administrator who issued your school account. Schools must establish a named support and privacy contact, a retention schedule, a process for information requests and the applicable service/data agreements before inviting pupils. These arrangements are not supplied by this software alone.
